NEW DELHI: A recovery syndrome in employment generation has started resurfacing in the National Capital Region (NCR) during the first four months of
FY10, which witnessed a 17.1 per cent surge in jobs creation as compared to the last four months of FY 09, according to Assocham Placement Pattern.

in the National Capital' concludes that between April and July 2009, 49,750 openings were created at different levels in the entire NCR, comprising Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad as compared to 42,501 openings between December and March '08-09.
Releasing the findings of Assocham Placement Pattern, its secretary general D S Rawat said that out of total 49,750 sample job openings in the region, 46.4 per cent were accounted by the Delhi region while the remaining 53.6 per cent went to different parts of the NCR.
With an improving scenario in the job creation process for the capital city, the overall situation in the employment sector is picking up as the signs of economic downturn diminish significantly, said Rawat.
Reversing the trend in the composition of new job creation process, the satellite towns of the NCR region has outpaced the Delhi region by contributing 53.6 per cent towards the new job openings in the Delhi NCR region since the beginning of the current fiscal (April – July 2009). During the last four months of the previous fiscal FY09, the satellite towns of the NCR region were lagging behind the Delhi region with a share of 42 per cent in the total number of new job openings in the Delhi NCR region.
As per the APP findings, the job creation in the satellite towns of NCR region, including Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad, registered a staggering growth rate of 49.5 per cent in the first four months of FY10 over the last four months of the previous fiscal; whereas the Delhi region witnessed a decline of 6.4 per cent during the same period. However, the total number of newly-created jobs in the Delhi NCR region as a whole increased from 42,501 during December–March 2008-09 to 49,750 during April–July 2009, a growth of over 17 per cent.
In terms of area-wise job creation in the satellite towns of the NCR region, Gurgaon created the maximum new job opportunities with 23.1 per cent share in total Delhi NCR followed by Noida/Greater Noida (20 per cent), Ghaziabad (5.6 per cent) and Faridabad (4.9 per cent).
In terms of sector-wise job openings, the IT/ITeS sector created the maximum number of jobs with a share of 27.5 per cent followed by the academics sector which accounted for nearly 17 per cent and the banking, financial services & insurance (BFSI) sector contributing 14.5 per cent.
As the Commonwealth Games are fast approaching its schedule to kick off, the growth in the number of new job vacancies augurs well for employment prospects in the capital city. "Jobs in construction, hospitality and infrastructure sector would increase tremendously as we progress towards the commencement of the Commonwealth Games 2010," the study says.
